This course advocates an engineered approach to planning and executing MPD projects. Geological fundamentals are reviewed to rationalize the drivers for MPD application. Well design, planning, and training are emphasized as critical factors to successful implementation. Participants are exposed to a variety of emerging application methods and equipment. Advanced hydraulic software models are used to determine steady state wellbore pressure profiles. Transient pressure effects due to connections, pipe movement, and tripping are evaluated using UbitTS flow modeling software to simulate drilling of an MPD well. Complications, problems, and site management practices are explained using case study examples. PetrosSkills Well Planning and Operations course is an excellent pre-requisite for this program. |
