Heerema Signs an EPCI Contract for BG Platform in Tunisia

11-29-2007

Heerema Vlissingen, one of the three construction yards of Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has signed an EPCI contract for the Hasdrubal A Platform of BG Tunisia Ltd. and Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petrolieres.

The contract between BG Tunisia, ETAP and Heerema Vlissingen comprises the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation and installation (EPCI) of the Hasdrubal A platform. This facility, consisting of a 1,000-ton jacket and a 1,500-ton topside, forms part of the Hasdrubal field development in the Gulf of Gabes, situated on Tunisia's east coast in the Mediterranean Sea.

After receipt of the Letter of Award at the beginning of this year the work commenced at our Heerema Vlissingen fabrication yard. Currently the production of the five stories topside is progressing as planned. The main and under decks are already completed, while the mezzanine, weather and helidecks are presently under construction. The construction and installation is scheduled for completion at the start of July 2008. The well hook-up is planned during the fourth quarter of 2008. The contract will generate approx. three quarters of a year work for the Heerema Vlissingen yard.

Jan-Pieter Klaver, Chief Executive Officer of HFG said: "we are very pleased with this award which is in line with our strategy to be a reputable EPCI contractor creating value for clients in oil & gas industry. We look forward to a successful project execution and continuing to build on our relationship with BG Tunisia and Enterprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petrolieres."

BG Tunisia currently supplies over 45 percent of the country's domestic demand, making it the largest gas producer in Tunisia. BG Tunisia, along with partner ETAP, the Tunisian state petroleum exploration and production company, are currently developing the Hasdrubal field, which is expected on stream in 2009.
