Shokri Ghanem of NOC Discusses Cooperation with ExxonMobil

11-16-2007

Shokri Ghanem, NOC Chairman, discusses cooperation with Mr. Russell Bellis, ExxonMobil’s Exploration Manager - North Africa & Middle East, and Mr. Marcus Tripp, Vice President for Business Development in Libya. Discussions covered upgrading cooperation between both parties within the oil & gas industry, especially the issue of expanding the Company’s exploration operations in the deep offshore areas.

ExxonMobil is known as being one of the biggest oil companies worldwide, operating exploration and production activities within oil & gas. It owns a number of refineries and stations for fuel distribution throughout 100 countries and is considered a pioneer in the petrochemical industry.

ExxonMobil will spend over US$310 MM on its exploration activities in Libya, which cover the Offshore Area 44 in Eastern Libya and the Offshore Area 20 at the Sabratha Basin. It has also applied for participation in the 4th Bid Round specifically for gas exploration, which will take place in December.
