StatoilHydro Plans to Expand its Presence in Africa

11-02-2007

StatoilHydro said that it was interested in expanding its presence in Africa. StatoilHydro, a leading global oil trader and a key supplier of gas to western European countries, has a number of projects in Algeria and Angola.

"We are interested in expanding our position in Africa," Kjetil Solbrękke, a senior vice president in the company's international exploration and production division, told the Africa Upstream 2007 oil conference in Cape Town.

Solbrękke added that the company was particularly pleased by results from its projects in Angola, where it is partnering with Angola's state-run oil firm, SONANGOL, and a handful of other international oil firms.
