Algeria Becomes the 6th Largest US Oil Supplier

10-10-2007

Algeria has become the 6th largest supplier of crude oil to the United States during the first quarter of 2007, local press reported.

According to the Algerian daily Le Jeune Independant, about 721,000 barrels of petrol
were exported to the United States during the entire period.

The daily added that the United States bought crude oil worth $6.9 billion from Algeria during the first quarter of 2007.

Algeria, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), is almost entirely dependent on the export of petrol and petroleum products and earns 98 percent of all its foreign exchanges from this sector.
