Bowleven Issues Drilling Update For Block MLHP-7 in Cameroon

07-21-2008

Bowleven plc has announced a drilling update, and has reported that the IF-1r exploration well, which spudded on May 28, 2008, has been drilled to a target depth of 7,750 feet and preparations for logging operations are now underway.

Bowleven's IF-1r exploration well is in Block MLHP-7 of the Etinde Permit in the Rio Del Rey Basin, offshore Cameroon. The primary objective of the IF-1r well is to explore for gas/condensate bearing sands in a structure located up-dip from the adjoining IE field.

An evaluation of logs will be undertaken prior to deciding whether to test. Further update announcements will be made as appropriate.

The IF-1r well is being drilled by the Trident IV jackup rig to a depth of approximately 8,500 feet.
