Melrose Announces the Appointment of Dr Ahmed Kebaili

06-30-2008

Melrose Resources plc announces the appointment of Dr Ahmed Lakhdar Kebaili as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.

From 1995 until his retirement in 2006, Dr Kebaili, 64, was the Principal Petroleum Engineer for the International Finance Corporation ('IFC') based in Washington, D.C. In this role he led the technical evaluation of oil and gas financing projects and he played a major role in the investment decision process. Dr Kebaili was heavily involved in all technical phases of the portfolio management, business development, risk assessment and training activities of the Oil and Gas Division of IFC.

Prior to 1995, Dr Kebaili worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for approximately 15 years in several capacities. Before joining Mobil, Dr Kebaili worked for over six years for a Dallas-based petroleum engineering consulting firm focused on Middle East and North Africa, and OPEC countries.

Dr Kebaili is currently the principal of Tell Energy, an oil and gas consulting firm. He is a graduate of the University of Paris, and holds an MSc in Mathematics and a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Robert Adair, Executive Chairman, commented:
"Ahmed's appointment as an independent non-executive director brings a significant amount of oil and gas industry experience in our main investment areas to the Melrose Board. We believe this will prove invaluable in facilitating the execution of our strategy and we are very pleased to welcome him to the Company."
