AMEC Completes Design Work For Takula Platform in Angola

06-29-2008

AMEC subsidiary,  AMEC Paragon participated in the successful installation of the Takula Gas Processing Platform, recently completed in Block 0 offshore Angola. The platform is located in 186 feet (57 m) of water, and is the newest platform to be installed by the Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. for the Cabinda Association.

The Area A Gas Management project was designed to reduce the routine flaring of produced gas. AMEC Paragon provided front-end engineering design services for the project, and detailed engineering and procurement assistance to Samsung Heavy Industries for the platform, which was built at the Samsung Geoje shipyard in South Korea.

"TGPP represents a major accomplishment for the Area A project as it will provide additional compression and gas sweetening in Block 0," said Chevron project manager Bob King.

"AMEC Paragon's comprehensive detailed design work streamlined the material procurement and fabrication phases of the project and contributed to safe and successful platform installation. We look forward to commissioning and start-up during the third quarter of 2008."

The Takula Gas Processing Platform is a single-train facility, linked to an existing platform by a bridge. The 5,000 ton single-lift modular deck has the facilities to process around 100 MMscf/d of sour gas for injection and delivery to the onshore Cabinda gas plant.
