Groundstar Spuds NW TANAN-1 Well in Egypt

04-30-2008

Groundstar Resources Limited announces the Spudding of the second exploration well in the 2 well drilling program on the West Esh El Mellaha (WEEM) block. The well is located on the NW Tanan prospect and will be drilled to a proposed total depth of 2,620 meters (8,600 feet). The prospect is on trend with the Tanan-1 oil well, 3.1 kilometers to the southeast in the adjacent Lukoil block operated by Eshpetco.

The well is drilling on a seismically defined tilted fault block. The objective horizons include the Nukhul, Matulla and Nubia sands. It is anticipated from seismic mapping that the objective horizons will be structurally higher at NW Tanan-1 than previously encountered at the Tanan-1 well.

Groundstar has a 20% working interest in the WEEM block. The well is operated by Aminex Petroleum Egypt Ltd. It is expected to reach total depth in 25 days.

Groundstar is a publicly traded Canadian junior oil and gas company actively pursuing exploration opportunities in Guyana, North Africa and the Middle East.
