Congo to Boost Crude Production in 2008
01-31-2008
Crude
Production in Congo is expected to increase in 2008 by 90,000 barrels per day,
with the exploitation of a new oil field, Jean-Jacques Mosconi, Manager of Total
Strategies, an oil company, said.
"This year we will exploit the Moho-Bilondo Field to produce 90,000 barrels per
day,".
Presenting the characteristics of the new field, Mosconi said that it was an
offshore exploitation, which would use pipelines to carry crude oil to an oil
terminal.
"The Moho-Bilondo Field is an offshore field. The crude oil, which will be taken
out, will not be processed there. It will be carried to Djeno terminal, where we
have set up processing facilities," he added.
"Losses between 20,000 to 25,000 barrels/day have been recorded on the N'gossa
site. For our part, outside N'gossa, we intend to produce 100,000 barrels/day in
Congo, thus reinforcing the national total production," he added.
The exploitation of the Moho-Bilondo is expected to increase Congo's production
from 240,000 barrels/day to 330,000 barrels, thus putting the country among the
main oil producers on the continent.
