Maurel & Prom Reports Tanzania Success, Congo Discovery
Maurel & Prom 1/18/2007

Paris-based Maurel & Prom issued the following update on its activities in Tanzania and Congo (Brazzaville). www.maureletprom.com

TANZANIA

The Mkuranga-1 well (M&P 60%) has revealed the presence of gas in the Ruaruke formation (Cretaceous Superior) 2 030m deep. During the isochron tests, the well has shown a constant flow of 19.2 million cubic feet per day on a 48/64 inches choke with a top pressure of 1 465 psi during a 4-hour period. These parameters are currently being assessed on a longer period. The drilling site is located 5 km from the gas pipeline to Dar-es-Salam, giving direct access to the Tanzanian gas market.

CONGO

On the Kouilou exploration permit (M&P 65%), the Loufika-2 well confirms the northwestern extension of the shallow reservoir already revealed by the Loufika-1 well some 2km away. Five additional wells are planned in 2007 to delineate the discovery.

The Loufika-1 well is in a production tests phase since January 2, 2007. The 270 b/d production is transferred by truck to the Kouakouala field.
