Esso Exploration to Add 100,000 b/d From Mondo Oil Field Offshore Angola

Angola’s Kizomba C project has gone into production with the launch of the Mondo oil field, which will be followed by the Saxi and Batuque fields this year, oil companies Sonangol and Esso Exploration Angola (Bloc 15), a subsidiary of Exxonmobil Corp. Said in Luanda .

The Mondo field was drilled to a depth of 800 meters, over 195 kilometers off the coast of Angola and is expected to produce around 100,000 barrels per day and the three fields are expected to reach a production peak of 200,000 barrels per day, and a total of 600 million barrels.

Kizomba C includes two FPSO (Floating-Production-Storage and Offloading) ships and 36 underwater wells, thus making it the biggest undersea project operated by Exxonmobil subsidiaries in the world.

Around US$1.5 billion was spent on products and local services needed for implementing the project, including assembly contracts, logistical support, training and development of Angolan staff.

Esso Exploration Angola (Bloc 15) Limited is the operator of the concession for bloc 15 with 40 percent of the project and is partnered by BP Exploration (Angola) Limited (26.67 percent), ENI Angola Exploration B.V. (20 percent) and Statoil-Hydro Angola (13.33 percent), and has Sonangol as the concession-holder.
